Probably for the same reason that you get a thrill out of walking around your house in the middle of the night with all lights out and being able to navigate without making a sound or stubbing your big toe.

I can see that, yeah...
Though sometimes it's a hair-raising event when I forget that I left a drawer jutting out open in my path.
